County Specific Sale Yard Bills

Kenya’s Agricultural Marketing Strategy 2023 – 2032 highlights market infrastructure as its strategic Pillar 1 with the objective of developing and maintaining modern market infrastructure for efficient marketing of agricultural produce. This aligns to the BETA agenda and includes development of policies and regulatory frameworks. Besides upgrading the market infrastructure, The Kenya Livestock Commercialization Project (KeLCoP) is supporting the project counties in the development of sale yard bills and regulations for the markets. A workshop for 7 project counties (Bungoma, Busia, Siaya, Kakamega, Nakuru, Trans Nzoia, Elgeyo-Marakwet) is ongoing at Kisumu hotel with the objective of drafting the county specific sale yard bills. In attendance are the CECS &, Cos responsible for livestock, Chair of Agriculture Caucus, representatives from COG, KLRC, county directors from relevant departments and farmer representatives.
